His Excellency János
Áder
President of the Republic of Hungary
President of the Republic of Hungary
His Holiness Pope Francis sends prayerful best wishes to your Excellency
and to the distinguished government representatives and delegates of
international organizations attending the Budapest Water Summit taking place
from 15 to 17 October 2019.
As the Summit explores the theme of “Preventing Water Crisis”, His
Holiness trusts that the basic human right to safe and clean water will guide
its deliberations, for indeed “our world has a grave social debt towards the
poor who lack access to drinking water, because they are denied the right to a
life consistent with their inalienable dignity” (Laudato Si’ 30).
Conscious of the pressing needs of so many of our brothers and sisters,
His Holiness likewise hopes that the most marginalized members of the human
family will be the first to benefit from improvements in sustainable supplies
of the most cherished gift of water.
With these sentiments, the Holy Father cordially invokes upon all
assembled in Budapest God’s abundant blessings.
